We all could use a little stress reduction during the holiday season! This great article by WebMD points out the reasons for holiday stress as being a partial memory issue and partial time management issue. In a previous post we discussed some quick relaxation techniques for stress. These are good but sometimes we just need an extra boost during the Holidays!
I have always said that just writing a list can be extremely helpful. Most people simply stress themselves out by trying to remember EVERYTHING. It is just before Thanksgiving and you can get started on your first stress reduction list by making one for everything that has to get cooked, cleaned, fixed, or prepared for Thanksgiving!
In the event something should go wrong over the Holiday season… DON’T PANIC! Often times we make a huge deal of such little mishaps. “The Four Agreements” is not only one of my personal favorite philosophy books but it is also one of the most popular in general. This book as some really great things to teach us. I think just about everyone can benefit in some way from reading this book. I have already bought 3 copies for friends after receiving a copy as a gift myself.

While I honestly believe that most any relaxation technique can be used to induce sleep, some people say that sleeping during meditation or hypnosis can defeat the purpose of the exercise. If the purpose of the exercise is to fall asleep than I don’t see any problems with it! lol
With the economy in bad shape and the depressing things we hear on the news, it’s no wonder that so many people are having trouble sleeping now days. The problem becomes progressive quite quickly too. You can actually make the problem worse by stressing about not getting enough sleep!
Most people invest hundreds and even thousands of dollars into new beds and pillows and all sorts of things to help them get to sleep better but what they don’t realize is that your body will never be at rest during sleep if your mind is not. Just taking the time to use a relaxation technique before bed can help you get a better nights sleep regardless of the quality of your mattress. Some how our ancient ancestors managed to get by with some pretty spars bedding material so why can’t we?

Most of the video and guided meditation audio we have reviewed here has been recorded by female guides. Many people find that the female voice is more relaxing and soothing for meditation than a male voice however some people are just the opposite.
While I’m not a fan of the voice on this video I do like the technique and I am sure that other people might find the male voice very soothing. You can fast foreword the video a bit to check out the audio through the meditation and skip the course sales pitch.
Many people get so caught up in thinking that Relaxation methods take a set amount of time and have to be done in complete silence in a special room. The idea of this is just ridiculous. Who has a zen garden or meditation room in their house? I don’t know of many!
In today’s society stress comes at every turn of the corner. Just like we have exercise to fight belly flab we have relaxation methods to fight stress. If we know the negative effects of stress we can only imagine what the benefits of reducing that stress would be on an everyday basis. Our minds are just as important as our bodies and we need to exercise and keep them both healthy.
This article gives some great easy tips to relaxing on the spot. The more you practice this technique the faster it will work for you. Also using these small techniques through out the day can make your daily or weekly meditation routine much easier.
